Love is in the air

It’s engagement season! January and February are really busy months for us here at Table Art but they’re also the most fun. We get to spend this time meeting with new brides-to-be and dreaming up beautiful new details that will make their wedding amazing and personal.

It’s engagement season!  January and February are really busy months for us here at TableArt, but they are also the most fun.

We get to spend time meeting with new brides-to be and dreaming up beautiful new details that will make their wedding amazing and personal.

I also like to spend this time going through old and recent photos for inspiration. One of my favorite photographers, Marie Labbancz, reminded me of a table we did at an event last year, I pulled up those photos.

For all of you brides that are searching for some inspiration for your wedding, consider a wedding inspired by the colors of Valentines Day.

No matter what time of year for your wedding, there is nothing like the impact of pink, hot pink, and deep reds to set a romantic and playful tone..

so strong and powerful.

These photos taken by Marie Labbancz capture the vibrant atmosphere we wanted to evoke for our ‘fantasy table’.

The tablescape was lush and covered with in pink ranunculus, pink peonies, pink sweet peas, roses and hyacinths.

A ruby red burlap tablecloth gave added impact and was accented by green grapes and green vibernum.

Opposites attract and i just love the contrast of pink and green.

Rust iron candleabra supported the chocolate brown tapers, which were so beautiful and rich..

it really turned out to be a tapestry of color and warmth.

Thanks Marie, for reminding me of this display. And the blushing brides out there, embrace the power of pink.

PEDICURE NOT REQUIRED

January 18th, 2010

This past week, I have had the great fortune to meet with several wonderful
new brides to be. It’s amazing how we start as strangers and within a short time come to know each other as ideas and inspirations are exchanged. I just finished writing a proposal
for a fabulous girl. When we met earlier this week, the first thing she told me was how excited she was to walk down the grassy aisle of her outdoor, Vermont style, wedding, barefoot.
A barefoot bride celebrating her wedding in June…I can feel the grass between my toes!
Why not an anklet of white freesia blooms? Flowers for the bride don’t always have to be
what is expected…. And what a great photograph to symbolize her unique style!

This particular girl went into great detail of describing her farmhouse style venue.
Let’s create a garland of bark wire and ivy to be swaged on the porch railing as a place card holder. She loves old style typewriter letter stamps. Bingo! With a little fun work
at home in front of a movie, I suggested that she create cool tags to be hung from the place card garland for each of her guests. In addition to blue and white garden flowers for her Mason jar centerpieces, we suggested using accents of vibernum berry.

With so many amazing resources for brides, personal touches become the
soul of the celebration. She wasn’t certain of how to present the guest favor of Jordan Almonds.
I suggested packaging them in square corrugated cardboard boxes. Using her love
of stamping…a single letter of the now new couple’s last name could be stamped on each box and placed at each guests seat. No one would forget that subtle detail!

I wonder what color is she going to choose for her pedicure?

SPRING 2010 COLOR REPORT

January 12th, 2010

I am inspired by fashion and the color trends that come with each new season.

Every season the fashion industry publishes their “in style” colors, using the Pantone color system (download here).  Spring 2010 is titled splashes of sunshine. This seasons colors are uplifting and fun, calm and serene and bright and cheery.

Colors range from turquoise, to yellow to tomato red and some more neutral tones.

Some of my favorite spring colors this spring are pink champagne,
eucalyptus, dried herb and turquoise.

Event designers are fortunate to have incredible resources for linens that we can rent for our clients.  I love working with Claudia Himes from Special Occasions and Queen Street Linens. Her philosophy is ” the linen is the dress and the flowers the jewelry”.  makes sense..

The following are some of her linens that would bring my favorite
2010 Pantone colors onto our tabletops
